Create a name and brand identity for Mitre’s new bonded and stitched-seam ball technology. Design a new ball ensuring it appeals to a younger target audience.
What we did
Developed a name that would make Mitre’s new technology sound superior to existing methods of holding a football together. The name ‘Hyperseam’ felt modern enough to appeal to a younger football audience and the new logo saw us link the H and S to highlight the two different seams.
In keeping with the name, the ball was designed to look like it was from hyperspace and would catch the eye of young video game playing football fans.
We then created a tool kit to ensure Mitre Delta Hyperseam assets would be utilised consistently globally.
The new Mitre Delta Hyperseam football had a modern look that resonated with Football League fans. The design, name and logo appeared globally across TV in The English Football League, the S League in Singapore and across the USA, as well as online.
Will Klug, the Strategic Project Lead at Mitre commented: “The work that Mercieca did on the design of the football and creating a name allowed us to keep the brand consistent globally. We were really impressed with their joined up thinking and execution, that brought the whole tool kit together. On top of all that a great looking ball was designed and rolled out as the official match ball of The English Football League and other leagues across the world.”
